Mountain Churches

In 1986 a Dutch missionary named Andrae van den Berg first came to Honduras and felt a calling from God to share Christ with the people in the mountains. Andrae went door to door and started home groups which eventually gre in to churches. Andrae prayed for someone to mentor and eventually take his place. God led him to a 16 year old young man named Yobani Alas. Yobani had recetly come to faith in Christ and learned from Andrae. Soon after, Andrae died but Yobani had the call in his heart to reach the people in the mountains.

In 1993 Yobani started the Fuente de Vida church in Taulabe. Since that time FdV has started 27 churches in the poorest mountain areas around Taulabe. Those churches are part of the FdV Association, and are overseen by the Board and leaders of FdV. The pastors and leaders in those churches are discipled by Yobani and several of those pastors are being helped by the micro-economic loans from FdV. Yobani's passion is to help the youth break out of the poverty cycle and come to faith in Christ. Many of those mountain children are cared for by the school at FdV and by FdV overseeing the 350 children of Compassion, International (CDI - in Honduras).
The average campesino (sp) who picks coffee in those mountain churches will make $2/day. FdV also helps supply clothes and school supllies to the pastors of those churches.

FdV has a vision to start a 3 tear seminary degree for those pastors and others in 2010.
