Orphanage for Girls

The orphanage first opened in April, 2000 by a few people in Western North carolina . It is home to 15 girls whose ages range from 5 to 20 years old.

Today, more than 30 sponsors from Grace Community Church and other ministries give $3,700 per month to operate the Home for Girls. This budget pays for all expenses including food, lodging, medical needs, school tution, etc. We are currently $600 behind the monthly budget and are in need of more sponsors to support these girls.

Vision for Home in 2009
In 2008, new construction began on a new home for the girls as well as a mission-house for visiting missionaries. Construction was completed in Januray of 2009 and the girls made it their home in February. The first mission team was welcomed to the mission-house in April.

As of May 15, 2009, there are 15 girls being cared for in the Fuente de Vida Home for Girls. Most of these girls have been in the home for several years and each was rescued from abusive situations. Fuente de Vida works closely as the Honduran legal representative of INHFA – the Honduran governmental office which oversees all public orphanages. In the Home the girls are well loved and taken care of. The girls not only attend school, but also have special tutoring in English and computer skills. Special counseling is also provided by qualified counselors in the area.

The cost to sponsor a girl completely is $200 per month. This $200 pays for all lodging, meals, medical, schooling, etc. Individuals sponsor the girls with monthly gifts of anywhere from $5 to $200 per month. Tax-deductible gifts may be given thru PayPal or by contacting the Honduras Fountain of Life Treasurer, Craig Watkins, at cwatkins@hondurasfountainoflife.org.

Teams from the US that visit Honduras are always deeply touched through friendships with the girls in the Orphanage and therefore some a good amount of time with the girls on each trip.
